Wisteria floribunda 'Royal Purple'
Wisteria floribunda 'Royal Purple' is an unusual climber with long racemes of exquisite, perfumed, purple flowers in May & June. Doesn't self-cling so needs to be trained. Can be trained on long wires or up a trellis against a sunny wall or fence. Attractive when grown through established trees or taller growing shrubs. Grows to approx. 6-8 m x 6-8 m. Any reasonable moist but well-drained soil in sun. Prolific flowering can be encouraged by pruning the branches back to stumpy spurs in August & February.
