Hydrangea macrophylla 'Rotkehlchen' (Teller series)

Hydrangea macrophylla 'Rotkehlchen' is a hardy, deciduous Hydrangea only reaching approx. 1.25 m x 1.25 m after 5-10 years making it ideal for a border, smaller garden or large pot. An upright, bushy shrub with ovate, toothed dark green leaves & flattened, lace-cap flower heads of dark red to purple in summer.  Easily grown in any reasonable moist but well-drained soil (not alkaline) in sun/part-shade. Can grow in a sheltered or more exposed situation.  Might need  to wear gloves when handling.
