Acer palmatum 'Beni-maiko' Japanese maple
Acer palmatum 'Beni-maiko' is a compact variety. Deciduous. In Spring leaves are bright pinkish-red. As it ages leaves turn greener turning orange-red in Autumn. Good in a pot or the smaller garden. Easily grown in sun/part or full shade in any reasonable neutral to acid well drained soil. Needs to be sheltered from strong winds. Up to 1.5 m tall eventually. Add a top dressing of a well balanced fertiliser around the base of a newly planted shrub in Spring.
