Dryopteris affinis or the Scaly Male fern is a semi-evergreen, tall growing, hardy fern that keeps its leaves almost all year round. It produces bright greenish-yellow fronds when young that turn a rich green as they mature. It is very attractive with golden scales on the stems. Fronds can grow to approx. 1.2 m in length. Easily grown in any moist, humus-rich soil in part-shade .
