Primula vialii (Vial's primrose) Attractive to bees, butterflies & moths

Primula vialii originated in southern China. It is a hardy, evergreen perennial with erect stems reaching approx. 50 cm tall x 30 cm. Upright, poker-shaped lilac-pink flowers with red tips are produced in early & midsummer. Best in any reasonable soil in part-shade. Good planted in a shady border or woodland area especially in poorly drained soils. Can also be planted in bog gardens or around the edge of a pond & if in sun then requires more moisture. Flowers are rich in pollen & nectar making it attractive to bees, butterflies & moths.

Can be grown in combination with Hostas & ferns.
