Embothrium coccineum
Embothrium coccineum is an upright tree or small shrub. It is an evergreen or semi-evergreen tree depending on the weather. It can make a stunning addition to your garden. Spidery orange-red flowers in late Spring/early Summer over dark green lance-shaped leaves. Up to approx. 6 m eventually. Ideal in a woodland garden, or in a sheltered open site. Protect from frost. Ideal in a conservatory or grown in a pot so that it can be moved inside over Winter. Fertile, humus-rich, neutral to acid soil in full sun.
