Acer shiraswanum 'Moonrise' (Full moon apple)
Acer shiraswanum 'Moonrise' is a hardy, compact, upright shrub. Leaves emerge bright red in spring then turn lime green as the season progresses then turn brilliant shades of orange & red in autumn. In summer the contrast between the bright red new growth & the older leaves is striking. Grows to approx. 3-3.5 m x 1.5 m spread when mature so can grow in the border or pot. Easily grown in sun/part-shade in any moist but well-drained soil but best leaf colour is in part-shade. Leaves might scorch if in full sun. Little maintenance needed but if necessary prune during the dormant season. Your tree will benefit from being fertilised in spring.
