Visits
During the spring and summer months we are delighted to welcome

groups and societies to the nursery. We are open 7 days from 1 March - 31 October and the only restrictions on visits are when we are getting ready for and attending shows. It is also better to avoid the week immediately after a show as we often struggle to keep the sales area well stocked and also the nursery is usually somewhat denuded of flowering plants.
A visit costs £2.00 per head(minimum group size 15 people) as we give visitors a talk about what we do, plants of particular interest at the time of the visit and a look behind the scenes at areas not normally open to nursery visitors. There is then time to browse through the sales areas and buy plants with us still available to answer questions and give advice. There will be a 10% discount given (or points on your loyalty card) on any plants purchased at the time of the visit.
We are a small family run traditional nursery in a lovely environment and passionate about the plants we grow. Our plants are hardy, grown naturally and grow well all over the country. We are proud to grow a wide range of high quality plants including herbaceous perennials, shrubs, grasses, ferns, herbs and some wall shrubs and climbers (not clematis).
The Heaves Hotel can generally provide teas/coffees/bar meals/light refreshments if pre-booked. Please enquire about refreshments at the same time as you enquire about a nuresry visit to ensure that you are not disappointed:- 015395 60269 Heaves Hotel number). We can suggest other venues if necessary.
We are ideally situated between Levens Hall (famous for Topiary gardens) and Sizergh Castle (NT property) both within .5 mile of the nursery. Please note they are both closed on Fridays and Saturdays. Slightly further away but well worth a visit is Holehird, the Lakeland Horticultural Society's ten acre hillside garden holding three National Collections. This is a wonderful garden to visit at any time of year, plants are well-labelled and well cared for by a dedicated group of volunteers.
