Herb

Genus: Mentha

Species: x piperita f. citrata

Cultivar: 'Chocolate'

A very strong flavoured mint with dark green, practically brown leaves and small whorls of purple flowers in summer. Prefers a rich moist soil in sun or partial shade. Can be grown in pots or window boxes. Ideal for tubs and pots. The extra strong peppermint flavour has a hint of chocolate. Add to puddings, summer drinks and tea. Approx. Ht. 60cm. Mint is invasive, so if planting straight into the garden, it is advisable to sink a large bottomless container into the ground and plant the mint in the centre, to inhibit the spread.
