Athyrium 'Ghost' or Lady Fern

Athyrium 'Ghost' or Lady Fern is a relatively new introduction with superb whitish coloured fronds emerging giving a ghostly appearance, hence the name.  The fronds darken with ageto a silvery-grey with burgundy accents.  It has an upright habit and spreads slowly by shallow rhizomes making it an excellent ground cover plant.  Approx. 75cm (30") x 50cm (20").  Best in shade or part-shade in loamy, humus-rich soil.  Colours best in part or semi-shade.

Lovely for any shady border or woodland garden.  A hybrid between Athyrium nipponicum 'Pictum' (Japanese Painted Fern) and Athyrium filix-femina (Southern Lady Fern).
