Cornus sanguinea 'Midwinter Fire'

Cornus sanguinea 'Midwinter Fire'

Cornus sanguinea 'Midwinter Fire' is a bushy deciduous shrub with two-coloured stems. Stems facing the sun turn red and stay yellow in the shade. A very attractive smaller shrub to create late season interest in the garden.  This is different to many other Cornus as it grows best in drier soils.

Looks good underplanted with spring bulbs like Snowdrops, dwarf Tulips or Narcissii.
