Achillea millefolium 'Red Velvet'
Achillea millefolium 'Red Velvet' is a deciduous clump forming herbaceous perennial. Strong, pure red flat-headed flowers in summer over a long period. Probably the best red Achillea. Green feathery foliage. Approx. 60cm tall. Any reasonably well-drained soil in sun. Will flower into autumn if deadheaded or cut back. An ideal plant for a hot border. Attractive to insects. Not attractive to deer. Flowers can be cut and dried.
Looks good planted with other Achilleas or with Crocosmia and Kniphofia for a hot colour scheme. Add Anthemis or Coreopsis for richness.
