Astrantia major 'Venice' PBR

Astrantia major 'Venice' is a slightly more vigorous variety with attractive rich burgundy coloured pincushion-like flowers surrounded by papery bracts on dark wiry stems. Green foliage.  Long flowering period from May into late summer.  Best in reasonable, moist soil in part-shade.  Approx.  50cm x 30cm.  Excellent in any mixed or herbaceous border or container.  Can be used as a fresh cut flower or dried for winter decoration.  Attractive to bees and butterflies.  Slug and rabbit resistant.

Combines well with white flowered plants such as Geranium and Campanulas or purple leaved Berberis or surrounded by Heucheras.
