Caths Garden Plants

We are a traditional family run nursery growing plants in a wonderful environment in South Lakeland, within the walls of an old walled garden (we do not have planted up borders.)  We love to grow our plants propagating many of the ourselves.  All plants are grown as naturally as possible to make sure that they grow well when planted in your garden. All our staff are very happy to advise whether you are are new to gardening or more experienced.

The nursery is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday 10am - 4pm offering a wide range of herbaceous perennials and some shrubs, grasses, clematis and other wall shrubs.  If we do not have the plant you are looking for we can also source plants to order especially larger sized shrubs or trees.  We take orders for bare rooted fruit and ornamental trees and hedging from July onwards.  This is a much cheaper option than buying potted plants.

Plant advice.
All our plants are well labelled and our herbaceous plants are laid out in beds for growing conditions to help you to choose the 'right plant for the right place.'  We also have a dedicated shade area containing plants suitable for this more difficult garden area as well as an area dedicated to shrubs.  If you would like more specific help or advice then please feel free to ask a member of staff.

Design advice.
Bob has landscaped and designed gardens for over 40 years.  He can offer a range of design options whether your garden is large or small.  If you would like Bob to visit your garden for more detailed or larger garden advice then the charge is £30 per hour.  However you can obtain free advice if you bring in your images, measurements etc to the nursery.

Gardening can be extremely therapeutic and enjoyable especially when you are advised on the right plants for the right places.  We have built up our reputation by guaranteeing that we do not sell plants to customers unless they have the right conditions for the plants to survive. Why not come in or give us a ring on:  015395 61126.
Flower Shows.
As well as selling plants from the nursery we also exhibit at Flower Shows around the country.  Please click the tab on the home page for details of the shows we are attending this year.  Plants can be brought to the shows for your collection.  The image shown right is our Silver Gilt medal awarded at Chelsea 2012 (image left) on our first visit.  We are thrilled to have been awarder a number of RHS Gold medals in recent years and also an RHS Gold Medal and 'Best in Show award' at Gardeners' World Live Flower Show in 2011.  If you are unable to visit the nursery then check out which shows we are attending this year and phone in your order as we are happy to bring plants for you to collect from the shows.  You can also order plants online to be delivered so that you do not have to carry them.  Please give us at least 7 days notice as we leave to start our larger exhibits some days before the show actually opens to the public.

The Nursery.
On the walls you can still see the remains of the greenhouses where peaches and other fruit used to be grown.  We feed the birds and many visitors remark on the birds around the nursery some of them quite tame at times. We are passionate about the wide range of quality plants and as we are also passionate about all wildlife (except for the mice, voles and rabbits when they eat our plants!) we grow plants as naturally as possible making them ideal for growing on well in your garden.  Our stock is always changing and so it is worth visiting on a regular basis, if possible, so that you have plants in your own garden giving interest and colour all year round.  We are always pleased to give help and advice about the plants or the design of your garden..

Enjoy browsing among our wide range of herbaceous perennials including our wide range of spectacular Paeonias (Paeonia 'Pink Hawaian Coral' right), more unusual shrubs, grasses, ferns, roses, wall shrubs and climbers including some Clematis.  We can also supply fruit trees and bushes.  Fruit trees can be ordered from July onwards for delivery when dormant usually from October onwards. All our fruit is supplied from a northern British nursery.  If you are unsure of the best varieties for your area then Bob is happy to advise. We also offer a plant sourcing service if we do not have the plants in stock that you are looking for.  If you would like speak to us please ring:  015395 61126.
